Mapping and remote sensing

Bathymetry Surveys

For small area aquatic mapping PMSS use a Kongsberg single-beam-echo-sounder (SBES) system for bathymetric surveys equipped with corrected differential GPS for depth data positioning. Applications for this equipment include bathymetry (water depth) mapping, seafloor change detection, habitat mapping biota distributions (e.g. seagrass, reef habitat etc.) and subsurface obstruction detecting.

High resolution Remote Sensing and Sonar

For large area, high resolution seafloor bathymetry datasets delivered using Satellite Remote Sensing or Multi-beam Sonar PMSS have ongoing professional relationships that engage qualified hydrographic surveyors. Such systems are required for applications in aquatic and coastal habitats such as broad scale predictive habitat mapping or seafloor change detection of ports and channel facilities.

GIS analysis software and computing hardware

PMSS have commercial GIS mapping software including ArcGIS and Golden Software Surfer coupled with necessary computing hardware for GIS processing. ArcGIS software is industry standard for use in GIS cartography (i.e. map making), geoprocessing and spatial analysis. We have qualified personnel with extensive experience using ESRI geoprocessing tools for applications such as producing Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), seafloor change or obstruction maps, biota distribution maps and GIS data management.
